Dan Horner
I’ve been with SFTW since 1974 and I haven’t aged a bit since then! I’m one of the owners of SFTW. I’m proud of the team we’ve developed over the years to serve our friends and customers. This summer marks our 54th year as a Motorola Service Shop. On any given day, you will find our field technicians in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa taking care of one of our most valuable assets – OUR CUSTOMERS! I really work in all aspects of the business. From the administrative and management side of the business to working with our customers to install, repair and optimize their wireless systems. Over the years, I’ve developed a broad working knowledge of all types of communication equipment. I do extensive bench work on portable and mobile radios. I often work on special products and projects that require custom design and development. If you have a special need or idea you would like to discuss, I’d be happy to visit with you, just give me a call. I also work closely with the Federal Communication Commission (F.C.C) on a regular basis. I handle the new FCC license applications and renewals on behalf of our customers. Jerry Johnson
I joined SFTW in 1987. I’m one of the owners and head-up the sales team at SFTW. I’ve had the privilege to meet some wonderful friends during my travel around the tri-state area over the last 20-years. You will generally find me out on the street calling on customers and from time-to-time holding down the sales desk at our office in Sioux Falls. I enjoy working trade-shows, fairs, special events from north, south east and west. I greatly appreciate the amount of repeat business I’ve received from my loyal customers. My customers are my friends and I truly appreciate their loyalty and friendship. As we continue to grow and expand our business into new state of-the-art product offerings, rest assured we will continue to offer you the best quality products, the highest level of service at a fair price. Karla Ball
I joined SFTW in 1994 as our Operations Manager. I’m involved in the day-to-day operations of our business, including human resources, customer service, account payable / receivable, as well as employee development. I also work closely with a number of health care facilities in the area; helping with their in-house and wide-area paging needs. Let me know if I can help you with your paging needs. Kevin Schmidt
I’ve been with SFTW since 1988. You will find me erecting communication towers, installing and replacing antennas and coaxial cable. I also have installed a variety of point-to-point T-1 replacement systems. When not 180 feet in the air, you’ll find me installing 2-way radio systems for government, commercial and ag-related businesses. I also know my way around custom vehicles installations. Whether it’s a radio, light bars and sirens, prisoner cages or digital in-car camera equipment, I can customize an install to work for you. Dave Sharkey
I’ve been with SFTW since April 19, 1995. I’m one of the “road warriors” who can be found installing and servicing radio systems in the tri-state area. I work closely with our customers, proactively maintaining and monitoring their existing radio systems to ensure optimal performance. I work on installing radios, antennas and accessories in all types of vehicles. I enjoy doing repair / bench work, trouble shooting pagers and all makes and models radio equipment. You will find me “under the hood” of any kind of computer. I can take apart and re-build virtually any computer and optimize it for your specifications and requirements. Mike London
I’ve been here at SFTW since April 2004. I’ve been in the 2-way radio business for 8- years. I too am one of the “road warriors” who can be found traveling in all parts of our service area. I work closely with city, county, state and federal agencies and their 2-way radio systems, dispatch consoles and T-1 replacement options. You will also find me optimizing and performing preventive maintenance for our ethanol plant, commercial manufacturing, agricultural and law enforcement center customers. I regularly work with our SFTW team members to install and service towers of all sizes. I’m comfortable with a soldering iron in my hand, and can repair all types of portables and mobile radios. I can work with you to customize installs of light bars, prisoner cages, digital in-car camera systems and sirens. I also work with Emergency Management Managers in our area to install service and maintain their tornado / emergency preparedness warning sirens. I look forward to working with you!
Jay Gerlach
I’ve been with SFTW since June of 1996. I specialize in E-911 system design, repair and installation. I work closely with many government agencies / dispatch centers in SD, IA & MN. I also work with radio consoles, voice recorders, wireless point-to-point T-1 replacements and paging systems. I will be happy to sit-down and discuss your ideas and consult with you on your system requirements. You can also find me on the repair bench fixing radios, pagers, and computers. As the 2-way radio (R.F.) world and the information technology (I.T.) world continue to blend together, I can work with you to integrate and maximize the efficiencies both of these technologies into your business. I’ve been with SFTW since August, 1995. I’m our Service and Safety Manager. I coordinate the daily service work / activity of our “road warriors.” We regularly perform service work at our customer’s locations throughout the tri-state area. I’ve been with SFTW since May of 2002. I too wear various hats here at SFTW. You will find me keeping track of our ever-changing line of inventory. I work closely with numerous supplies and vendors in the communication and public safety business. We stride to offer you the best quality products and accessories and a reasonable price. We stand behind everything we sell! I place orders for radios, pagers, cellular phones, antennas and all types of accessories and special order parts & pieces. Tell me what you need; I can get it for you. I also work closely with our sales team. I assist with equipment proposals and coordinate the ordering and receiving in of special equipment and contacting our customers to coordinate the delivery, set-up and implementation of their equipment. Do you need to rent radios for your special event or project? I manage our full-service radio rental department. Jeff Ball
I’m the “new kid” at SFTW. I started here in January of 2006. I’ve been in the communication business for nearly 20-years, most recently with Cellular One / Western Wireless for 14-years. For those of you who can remember how, in the “old days,” we would originate a mobile telephone phone call … “Mobile Operator would you dial …” It seemed to work pretty well, considering. Today, I work with cellular, 2-way radio sales, point-to-point T-1 elimination products, cost-effective mobile data systems, voice & 2-way logging recorders, vehicle tracking / fleet management and in-car digital camera systems for law enforcement. (I’ve been know to run the vacuum cleaner around the office too) Give me a call, I’d be happy to work with you and discuss and strategize about your communication needs.
